About me
Hello, I’m Smruthi Gokuldas Prabhu. I hold a PhD in Biotechnology from NITK Surathkal and a master’s degree from St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, India, qualifying me as a biotechnologist.
My professional journey began as a project assistant at the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Mangalore regional office. I later transitioned into education, serving as an assistant professor at St. Aloysius for two years, followed by a stint as a freelance biology subject matter expert.
While I’ve moved beyond the traditional classroom, my passion for simplifying biology has remained constant. Over the years, I’ve developed the skills needed to make science—especially biology—engaging and accessible to a wider audience.
In 2024–25, I interned remotely with Klarity, a UK-based health-tech company, as a healthcare article writer and editor to sharpen my science communication skills. Today, I’m an aspiring science communicator, using both writing and illustration to bridge the gap between complex science and everyday understanding.
When I’m not glued to my laptop on weekdays, one’ll likely find me tidying up the house or experimenting in the kitchen. Weekends are for gardening, long exploratory walks, and trying out new cuisines with my husband. On rainy days, I enjoy curling up on the sofa with a good novel.
